Can anyone give me an opinion of what the value on this may be? I'm itemizing my stuff for insurance purposes and I'm seeing asking prices all over the place online. Also, interestingly, this was graded and labeled without a numerical grade. I called NGC and the person I spoke to confirmed it was legit and told me it is not details in their system but that they would need to "ask and get back to me" about why it was printed this way. This was a few days ago, and I have not heard back yet. Anyone ever see this happen before?
This coin was authenticated as genuine with NO grade given. I would think that despite being a technical error, there would be no added value in this particular case. I'm giving it around a $4 coin or so based on the following....1887 Indian Head Penny Coin Value Prices, Photos & Info
I can't really see the strike-through so I wouldn't add any value for it, might even subtract some, i.e. it doesn't seem to be anything "cool" that a collector might want.
The perimeter lettering (obv) and the details in the wreath. It is a grease filled die . I would agree with Coins 4 Eli. The rim details and a full liberty. I would say that this is an AU coin. Maybe even a little luster within the surface problems.
IDT the error increases the value of this coin much as it is minor. But the coin itself might be in the $20- $30 range if it was graded XF/AU.
