It's got some funky looking discoloration, but nice details. What sort of grading would this one fall under? Many others on my album at https://www.cointalk.com/media/albums/my-morgans.250/ These are items that I might have to part with due to mom and dad's medical expenses. Bill
XF, but perhaps some problems due to whatever's stuck to the surface. Perhaps also cleaned on the obverse. It's one of those coins that a dealer would put in a box of raw Morgan dollars for people to buy at $25 each.
Is that rust like you would see on a car on that Morgan, some random dirt, or is it just the picture?
I have no idea what the brown coloration is, both brown and black seems to have come off onto my fingers while handling it by the reeded edge, exposing more of the silver color. Would this one be a candidate for one of those acetone baths that I read about on other posts? Have to go wash the black off my fingers now.
If it is coming off, more would come off if you left it in distilled water for a week and then soaked it overnight in acetone. I was thinking that grade too, XF. It will sell for a premium, twenty something but not sure how high maybe like lower twenties. Even if you listed at $30 BIN you would probably get a bite. I have sold worse for more.
I'll try that. Just so happens that I have distilled water on hand for my *#&% CPAP machine. Have to pick up some acetone though. I'll post follow up pics afterwards. Thank you. Bill
