That's definitely without a doubt not a proof Morgan silver dollar. The denticles are wrong. The denticles on a proof coin are very sharp and squared where the denticles here are flat and rounded. It does however appear to be a nice mint state coin and it's hard to see in the pictures but it might even be PL.
i am getting gleem off the dentacles i assure you they are squared off.more pics comin soon o and some of the lettering has slight doubling i will get that also as soon as i get some good light.
Where did you get that image? Because that is not the reverse of a 1885 Proof Morgan, that is the D (1921) reverse.
you know what i went to google 1885 proof pics and it poped up as 1885 proof pic under images and you are right it is the 1921!the put the wrong pic with the article i took the pic from.but the other pic i have of obverse is def 1885 proof im going to check that site again brb
it was from coin circle its wrong pic to article.but the other pic is from museum from d.c.its exactly like mine.exact .
Sorry, I still don't see a proof from the pictures you have provided. I have looked at a lot of proof Morgans over the years and this one just isn't convincing me. I would recommend sending it to get graded to PCGS or NGC for the final verdict as we all know how tricky these pictures can be and if it IS a proof it needs to be graded anyways.
im near a pcgs im going to get it graded and you are def right.but from what i see its def a proof.well i say 95 percent sure it matches the proof pic i have exactly in detail color clarity and the edgemarks are exactly the same.
proof coins do NOT have luster in the fields,as the die was polished to perfection, and it was struck so hard, there sealed.just like any other proof.sorry but you have a very nicely struck regular morgan dollar.if you put the coin up to your face, outside of the 2x2 you should be able to shave with it.sorry, better luck next time. luster is there, not a proof
