    Just explaining the facts.
    They mix copper in with gold to make it harder. It's not solid gold.
    10K gold is a little less than 42% gold.

    If so, that means that the chain is only 1/40 gold by weight, so only a bit less than $10 worth of gold. Assuming the bezel is actual 14K gold, it might have as much as $100 worth (although likely less), bringing the total gold value here to something less than $500.

    I'm not sure why the pawnshop was offering $600; even if they thought the chain was solid 10K, that seems like a generous offer.
