First, welcome to the neighborhood @Sabrinakoehler !

The coin is 90% gold and 10% copper, not solid gold. It is very likely that it has been damaged from being in the necklace and would not be worth grading. ~ Chris

The coin is worth melt value. Who said that the coin was 14K?

$600 sounds like they are just paying you for the melt value of the gold. Typical of a pawn shop. You could get more for that for sure. Coin auction or at least ebay, take your time and research. Wait for more posts from the members of this awesome website :)

    Actually, if that's 14k- 8.3g*(oz/28.35g)*(58.3% Au)*($1572/oz) = $268 in gold. I'd take the $600 lol

You can try to provide some clearer photos.
But in the end if the pawn shop is offering 600 I would take it.
The melt value on this is $379. I would imagine that the chain and bezel are also gold, to get to $600.

Coin communities like this care about the hobby, not so much the value of money. We wouldn't steer you wrong. But hey, I know plenty of people IRL that have never lied to me and never would.

Do you know what the value could be? Do you think it would go up with time? I’m thinking if it’s going to go up in valve save it for my son if not just sell it now. Everyone is saying to sell it for scrap price. Unfortunately I have no idea about coins

I think the photos are clear enough.

The coin is probably genuine, and contains a bit less than a quarter-ounce of gold, worth about $380 at current prices. I'm guessing that the bezel is marked 14K, and the chain is marked 10K. Total gold content (and total value) would depend on how much the bezel and chain weigh.

Around here, pawn shops buy gold coins and jewelry for a good bit less than gold value (so they can meet their expenses and make a profit). If they're offering you $600 for the whole thing, that chain may be heavier than I thought. A pawn shop usually isn't the best place to get top dollar for this sort of thing.

If that scale is yours, can you show us how much the whole piece weighs -- or, better yet, separate weights for the bezel and for the chain?

    Oh, and welcome to CoinTalk!

I would sell the chain and keep the coin for him later. Jim

    14K = 58% gold.
Most gold coins are 90% gold.
    24K gold is 100% gold.

    So
so do you think I am wrong? And it’s 100% gold?

24K gold is too soft for a chain, it would not stand up and be lost in time, so they make it with 10-14K gold. The coin if real is 90%.
