1883 Morgan VAM-11a with lots of rust on reverse **Warning Large Image**

    By dumb luck I had 5 on my desk at once, when only 5 were known, all in one submission that was sent to me. The submitter didn't know.

    The biggest "black widow" die of the Morgan series is one of the 8TF reverses that was used with 10 different obverses. Two of the 10 are common, one scarce, the rest quite rare.

    I think these rusted dies are really cool.

    This was an 81-S I bought a year or two back that I wish I didn't sell. Some of the cleanest surfaces I've ever owned and under loupe Liberty is covered in pitting. Amazing that you can't see it unless using a loupe.
