I picked this up recently & am not sure how to grade it. A 2 year series lacks a lot of wear references. Even the catalogs seem to lack information about their mintage. But, this struck me as a pretty neat design (& those appear to be bowstring lines rather than the die breaks I first thought them to be):
I have both the 1883 2 and 5 centavos mintage for the 2 is 50,023,000 for both 1882 and 83. They are nickel compound. I will try and post some images later today. However I must say these two coins are really nice....in fact I know who I purchased from here on this forum, as well what I paid....and they are definitely worth the money which isn't alot, and their eye appeal and place in history make them even more interesting to add to your collection. I hear and have heard over the years that oh I only collect U.S. well some times the two US and world do collide. Many US designers also designed other countries, So yeah sometimes if you dig a little deeper you unlock alot.
