1882 1c Snow 6 MPD

    I got sniped on 2 of these this week. A good friend Bill Walker is the discoverer of this Indian Cent variety. The first one went for $36 and the second for $157.

    Hey , nice coins but isn't $157 a little high ? Just wondering, what is a Snow 6 MPD ? Not familiar with the IHC varieties ? Thanks .

    There's at least 3 bases of the 1 punched into the pearls as my bottom picture shows. Rick Snow has one for sale on ebay for $250 and it's only a VF-30. I grade the coin I missed at at least an XF. I bid $155 thinking that I could get $250 for it or at the least $225.

    MPD stands for Mis-punched dates. (Edited)

    I'm sorry, but, you're mistaken. He attributes doubled dies, some die gouges, interior die breaks, die clashes and MPDs as well as the main category of repunched dates. He describes this 1882 as a misplaced date in his text I've loaded below:
