This is another raw coin I pulled from the vault, Frosty devices great strike but so much chatter in the fields . What do you think it would grade? Vam 1 A DSCN7378.JPG DSCN7379.JPG DSCN7381.JPG DSCN7380.JPG DSCN7382.JPG

You just have to love an early S mint Morgan. That chatter is going to hold it down to a 62PL I think.

Comparing this to some of the 63PL and 64PL i looked at today, and DMPLs , im thinking easy 63PL

MS-62, but no PL. it seems that the TPGs are requiring more frost on the devices these days. It may have received the designation some years ago.

The images don't show how frosty this specimen is..... the devices are frost white.
My concern was the fields which is a shame as it would definitely grade a DMPL .

I think 62PL but, it would be interesting to see how frosty the devices really are.

61 or 62 and not worth having certified.

When you submit something to PCGS or NGC, the last thing you want to do is to be optimistic. They are grossly inconsistent. I think their grades coincide more closely to the phases of the moon than to the condition of the coin. Their primary goal is to find some excuse to call the coin ungradable but charge you full price to put it in a slab that you'd be better off breaking the coin out of.

MS 62+* PL :p ...nice, not quite 63, not quite dmpl...so it's a 62 with a plus and star (only applies to NGC)

    63PL on your coin.

My 81-S got a straight 64 for a DMPL obv but a flat and frosty rev.

My other 81-S got an 85PL for a PL obv but a semi flat and frosty rev.

You can't tell what the TPG will assign you at any given time although you should have an idea based on market trends.
