I frequently view postings on here, so I figured it was time I joined. I just recieved this 1880 Indian head, and I am looking for any input as to what's going on with it. I've been into coins for years, but just bought a cherry pickers guide, and thought this may be a snow-1. It came in today and I'm having a hard time figuring out what's going on here. The obverse has major longacre doubling, some doubling on liberty, clash marks and a few gouges and cuds? The reverse has what looks like corrosion, especially where the reverse clash should be. There is a few raised bumps in the general proximity of the famous clash, and some major recutting on most of the design. Is it possible this was a late die state? Rusty dies? I'm just clueless here. I can get better pictures of specific spots if you need. Thanks. Mike[/QUOTE]
