IMHO, the lines on the Obverse which do not really appear to be scratches, were probably caused by a plastic slide-out cover used in some of the Coin Albums to keep the coins in place. The coin probably resided in one of these type albums for many years and sometimes when the plastic has scratches on it and the coin is in contact with it for long periods of time, it will cause normally East to West toning lines on the coin depending upon the coin&#039;s orientation in the album.
