I too wind up ambivalent about certain grades of coins! When you. gets down to around very fine/fine it is one of those boundaries that are hard to determine! I have an 1878CC, but of an MS grade. You probably already know that PCGS has a free service called "Photograde," where they have every coin you can find in the Price Guide of American coins anyway, and pictures of these coins in each grade. You can go there and compare.? It's not infallible, but it's better than nothing! It's free, and it might be helpful! Good luck!

VF-25 is my guess! After looking at PCGS Photograde it looks like it's VF for sure!

I'm on the fence between VF-35 and XF-40. It may get the bump to XF-40 for being a CC Morgan. Those tend to get a little more love from the TGG's..

Thanks for the help everyone! I'm still learning how to grade Morgans, so please bear with me. :)

What would yall say this one would be? XF, maybe low AU?

I'm trying to find a AU58 / MS60 Morgan, preferable a MS60. It's hard for me to tell on ungraded so I'm slowing learning what to look for but I'm tempted to just buy a graded one.

AU58 prices are pretty much on point with Numismedia / PCGS / NGC's pricing guides but when it jumps up to MS60 they're $100-$200 more than the guides? I've always read that pricing guides are higher than what we should pay. So why are the 60s so much more money?

    - Numismedia: MS60 $330
    - PCGS: MS60 $375
    - NGC: MS60 $280

Does anyone know where to find a PCGS / NGC MS60 1878 Morgan CC for lower than the pricing guides? If so please keep me in mind!

The amount of luster left comes into play when grading coins in this range, and the picture just doesn't show the luster. But it doesn't appear to have much wear, I'm guessing AU50.
