NGC doesnt know that much about indian coins which is really a shame they have even certified fakes in their slabs which is documented in the forum. Thats why i was very clear to mention PCGS ( not that great but lot better than NGC for indian coin grding IMHO. I agree with you that a lot of EF coins will come between the 45-58 range as european countries dont use the scheldon scale. NGC may have experience but their out put is pathetic. If you really want true grades for indian coins and proper authentication use ICG i have never seen a problem with their slabs as far as Indian coins go. I have had dealers tell me to submit my problems indian coins to NGC so that they would get slabbed just something that you should be aware of. Another thing to be aware of is that there are no established standards for grading indian coins so what is typically used is the general definiton by TPG's. That combined with the ignorance of the buyers, the booming economy, the weakness of the dollar, and large amounts of hoardings, has pushed the mohurs well beyond the reach of most collectors and past the $1000 mark. I will be careful while buying from europe but I think GD and I both have this rule that we dont buy coins from places with no return policy and i will be doubly careful on the cleaned stuff you warned about. Thanks
