The 1872 half dime is just Longacre doubling. Blow up the image and notice how the doubling goes all the way around the lettering in AMERICA.

According Al Blythe's book the coin in your picture does match the V-6. It's very nice with a good strike. There are pictures of this die variety in the book I mentioned.
