Try getting a close-up picture of the mint mark. It’s too hard to see in the full reverse picture. EDIT: These are the only pics? You don’t own the coin?
Date and MM placement look good. Have to see it in person and weigh it to know for sure. If it's on eBay, you can return it if it isn't real.
@Insider and @C-B-D what do you think about the MM? I can't find a similar placement on any images of prior sales. That is a red flag but doesnt necessarily mean it isnt right. @physics-fan3.14 always has some good insight as well. I can report back weight, confirm the metal, etc once I see it.
I don't pay too much attention to the position of mintmarks. The coin is 100% genuine based on things I can see. Oops, I am posting about the second coin... Cannot enlarge the first enough...I'll look again. Still cannot see the micro characteristics I use. Probably OK.
Are there C's with the flat top like that on any of the dies? Sure doesn't look right to me just at a glance but I'm far from an authentication expert. I would proceed cautiously that's for sure.
I don't see anything alarming. If it is on Ebay you have a return. Here is what someone may do but I don't recommend it. Ask the seller a question: All my collector friends think the coin is counterfeit! That should keep the price down for you.
That's the bloody professional opinion? You should have your mouth out washed. Bloody devil.......call the blasted thing a fake. It don't seem real to me but I'm an novice........
Perhaps it is because it is all beat up, just makes a low VF, the seller is not in the TPGS "club," and the PGCS price only applies to (?) coins they graded. Besides, coins don't need to be slabbed. Why pay someone more money to tell someone else what is obvious. Here is something to think about. The four major TPGS probably receive an average of around 10K coins a day. A LARGE MAJORITY OF THEM ARE RAW!
And something else to think about: Maybe it hasn’t been sent in because the seller knows or suspects it’s fake.
Santinidollar, posted: "Maybe it hasn’t been sent in because the seller knows or suspects it’s fake." I forgot that one.
