Here's another treasure found at the Baltimore show. An 1868 Reverse of 68 RPD Shield Nickel. This coin too has a RPD and is not listed in the CPG as to the repunch. It is however an Variety #2 two broken letters {the C and the S in Cents} Estimated Mintage 870,000 a 30% of all 2,900,000 1868 Shields minted. as you look at the images the 1 is a repunch it's punched North of the primary 1 as well as to the west.the first 8 is touching the ball and has a flatten top loop. The 6 is also a repunch as it has a larger ghost 6 east of the primary 6 that top loop touches the ball.
On the rev. you'll see the two broken letters the C and S in cents. This is a PUP for this Variety #2.
There are 6 Varieties when it comes to the 1868 rev. of 68 Shield nickel. they are 1,2,3,4,5.5, and 5 in that order they go from the highest to lowest percentages the lower the percentages the higher the value. 1868 Shield V2 obv..jpg 1868 Shield V 2 Rev.jpg 1868 Shield V2 Date RPD.jpg 1868 V2 Broken c.jpg 1868 V2 Broken S.jpg

Looks like the C & S hub had these letters broken off. Nice RPD.
