I apologize, I didn't intend to come across as though I'm selling services. I'm not a coin dealer; I'm a scholar. I've never charged anyone for anything I've ever done, and it says in my signature that attribution is always free. Microscopic and photographic analysis is part of the attribution process by nature, and is always free. Advanced composition analysis like electron scanning or X-ray fluorescence would need to be done by a lab, and is not offered. Edit: Thanks Jim, certainly not my intent to step on toes, rather help when and where I can.
These are two untouched images, the first through a loop with artificial light, and the second in daylight. There is no overdate. The alignment of the date looks different when a program hasn't been used to change the dimensions of the image, and changes with the alignment of the coin vs camera (like a finish line at he track). I'm learning a good deal about no trusting the images on line, vs having the coin in hand.
The large obverse picture really helps! I'm not an IHC expert, but judging from the weak AMERICA, the odd denticles could be a strike issue...the die may have been out of alignment. Generally speaking, when I see subtle details like Longacre Outlines on the "U" in UNITED--I take that as a good sign.
