so I'm trying to figure out what die this is. I thought it was the S1 but the more I looked at it it doesn't mention anything about the die clashes seen on my coin. Can anyone help? Is it the uber rare never before seen 2 cent clash?!! lol
Alright, I've sent him pictures before of a 1858 FE with a cud, just didn't know if he gets annoyed with people sending him pictures to look at. I'll take some better pictures tonight and send them his way and see what he says. Thanks.
So I'm now leaning towards S-11. I'm waiting to hear back. The lathe line is showing in the corner of the eye.
Maybe it's time for this question. Does Snow's guide include ALL known dies? I suspect not otherwise there would be a LOT more entries. From the foggy depths of my mind comes the number 250,000 strikes per life of a die. If that's even approximately correct then some issues should have a much larger die count.
It's a pretty cent, I'll give it that. Last I know Rick hangs out in the PCGS forums. You can try the pictures, there. I've seen him identify varieties in those forums.
Looks like I'll need to sign up over there. I'm going to try a new lens out tonight and see if I can't clear the picture up. Thanks.
Looks like a snow-9 to me which does mention clashing between the feathers and the C on the reverse. Nice coin no matter what.
My lens isn't good enough to get close details. I took those using my loop and my iPhone. Hopefully I'll get my macro lens before too long that will allow me to get those nice crisp close ups.
