I recently purchased a IHC with a rev. CUD that I couldn't find any reference on. I sent some pics to Russ Doughty (He has treated me well in answering some stupid questions) and it was unknown to him so I sent the pictures to Mr. Poliquin who verified that it is a new die pairing making it my first discovery coin. As I was preparing to mail it to him I remembered four others I set aside as interesting and sent him pictures. He asked that I send them with the discovery coin . Two of the dates were large die cracks that I thought were maybe Cuds. The other is this 1864 bronze with a die rotation that was different than any of the pictures listed in his web book. If I had viewed each plate I would have seen the this coin is the var. 3. The fun part of this coin for me is that this is the second one discovered and has proven his theory of a dynamic die rotation. Once David photographs and maps the rotation better pictures will be available.
