Xf and that obverse die was worn out my initial thought was cleaned and ground found details or something wrong with the obverse until I looked at the reverse then really studied the obverse. Extreme die wear was the culprit for the bad definition on a lot of the portrait details. It shows in the metal flow lines by the edge and by the portrait
Can anyone confirm this being DDR? The shield, parts of the wreath, and lettering looks to be so and compared to the DDR coins resembles very much so
I know, right . I'm a little confused. Also, on mine the date has double in the 8's which is mentioned online.
I think your obverse may be Longacre. I have that 2 cent nickel piece I posted last night asking the same thing and the lettering looks identical, but I know next to nothing to errors on coins
I was told the same thing. What is going on here ?Are the ERROR GODS playing tricks ? I just saw one one ebay . Same thing. Longeacre D .
It is crisp and not worn but looks like it was powder blasted or something. A coin with such good definition should have better luster. No?
That’s a good point I’m honestly not sure. I bought it though because I believe it to be a DDR and if so worth quite some change. I hope no funny business though I guess we will see when other chime in
Do you believe this to be DDR? I can’t help but to notice the strong outline on the left of the shield and parts of the wreath also some of the letters
The doubling on the rev of Airborne's coin is Machine Doubling, not a DDR. The doubling on the obv of SensibleSal's coin is Longacre doubling.
Handsome coin. I like it. I'd might say XF45 to be conservative, but I don't think AU50 is out of the question, either. Edit- yeah, OK. I reckon that one makes AU. Nice piece. I'll leave all the discussion of doubling to the others, since I don't have much interest in minor doubling, usually.
