Marr was the talented member of the partnership. He made many really pleasing designs, and I have gone out of my way to find most of them. </p><p><br /></p><p>The reverse is the &quot;Naked Amazon&quot; which is probably John Marr&#039;s most famous work. It is based on the painting &quot;Liberty Leading the People&quot; which was symbolic of the failed 1848 revolutions in Europe. Marr, who came from one of the German States, may have been a refugee of those battles.</p><p><br /></p><p>I would have loved to have found a really nice Gem Uncirculated example of those token, but this AU-58 was the best one I saw when I was dealer. </p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]1563115[/ATTACH] </p><p><br /></p><p>This last pieces featured a reproduction of the cent design of the period, which promises to &quot;pay the bearer one cent.&quot; There is no mark on this piece as to who might have issued it, so the payer remains a mystery. </p><p><br /></p><p>This is listed in the Patriotic Token book. It has a lower rating as a common piece, but I found that locating a nice one, without damage, was a challenge.
