The pics of yours convinced me I'm wrong. Hopefully I'll get a Prooflike designation.

I wouldn’t say you were “wrong” per se as your coin was most likely struck using proof dies. It’s only missing the proof finish, right?

All of the 1862 proof strikes were minted on 27January. There were business strike mintages on 10 & 20 January and 4 February, 10 March and 13 August.

It's certainly possible the proof die was used for some of the later business strikes. For 1862 and earlier proofs were only struck on a single day - they wouldn't have needed to preserve the special die.

During the war it was a different story, with 100 proofs struck per day over several days to make up the entire mintage.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Very interesting. Any idea how many dies were used for 1862? With a total mintage of 343,000, it was probably only 2? or 3? die pairs?

I’d guess very early strike of repurposed proof dies. There is centril weakness in the stars in 1862 proofs as well- it’s the anomalies on the reverse rim that make me lean that way as I’m not seeing that on any 3CS proof images.

....one thing’s for sure from that video, the coin rocks.

I actually think that's the old gasket. But I need to look at it again to be sure.

I agree with the others that say business strike with a chance at PL. It might be worth it to send to NGC to get a star if PCGS does not think it meets their standards for PL.

It’s proof like for sure I do think it may be a business strike from retired proof dies. Either way it’s nice
