1862 Seated Half Dime

    That is a key point -- in 1862, were dates hand-engraved or punched? I don't remember when they changed over...

    Nor do I but you see the two...don't you? Image what I thought when I scoped it. It was like unreal, so I weighed the coin,1.24 grams so that's correct and what more could I do other than post it and see what's said.

    Punched and as for misplaced dates none are known after 1909 so at that point is when the change came about.

    Punched, switched around 1793/4. Individual digits until 1840, two and four digit logotypes that year, four digit logotypes 1841 to around 1907 when they started transitioning to dates in the master die. That transition was completed by 1909. dates were moved to the master hub sometime in the 1980's I think. I know they were in the hubs by 1990.
