1862 Confederate 1 Cent Piece

    If it is dated 1862 it is definitely a fake. If dated 1861 it is most likely a replica, a chance it is a restrike, and an almost impossibly small chance it is genuine.

    Read our book: The Lovett Cent, A Confederate Story by Harold Levi and George Corell. You will learn everything that is known about the originals and the restrikes. Btw, we are the reason they now say 16 originals instead of 12. That is actually at least 16 with the possibility of a few more than that. Edited-rules self promotion. Check your conversations

    I have not seen Confederatequarter.com referenced in a long time. That domain was sold out from under me years ago, then somebody had the gall to offer it back to me for $2k! It was sold to an illegal Nevada corporation.

    Hate to rain on your parade but they were engraved and struck in Philadelphia, likely in March if 1861, not by the Confederacy but for the Confederacy. In March of 1861 it was still legal to do business with the southern states.
