1858 Double Date Flying Eagle

    Nice find and 1858 is one of the dates I collect in type sets. :)

    Thanks. Any idea which one? I'd think it'd be the 1858/1858(s) but I'm not very familiar with Flying Eagle varieties.

    This is strike doubling. I just looked at all 1858 SL and LL in Ricks Snow's attribution guide and this does not match up to any he has listed in his books.

    It is very wide, but unfortunately, it does not seem to be a RPD. Here is a similar one I have on a Shield Nickel.

    On another note.....if you are completely confident that this is a RPD, you should send it to Rick Snow. He will add it to his books and give you credit for the discovery.

    According to Rick Snow it's probably strike doubling.
