The Penny Lady, Great medal, I love the deep bronze color. The coin has vitality. Glad to see someone else appreciate the "base" metal objects! Have you seen the "Temple of Heaven" coin? It is an eye opener as well, but a silver color. GSDykes
The Penny Lady, Here is the "temple of Heaven" It actually is cup shaped, giving it a very 3D effect, the center is about 3mm lower than the rim. It weighs 3.2 oz. of silver, Cook Islands. The Queen graces the obverse. I will never own one, unless it is given to me. However, the bronze medal you "won" outclasses this modern marvel. I suspect that you have seen these in your travels. I am a huge fan of Jacques Weiner cathedral medals. before I die I wish to buy and own this gorgeous ST PAUL’S CHURCH AT ROME cathedral medal: the depth perception on this medal amazes me still... Charmy here is a great website that has more information and pics of your medal and the medal I want. link: http://www.historicalartmedals.com/...-EUROPEAN CATHEDRALS/brand new thumbnails.htm
The most amazing medal is the one for the Hagia Sophia in Instanbul. Weiner managed to place the interior 3D effect on both the obverse and the reverse.
There's a bunch of them. The silver ones are prohibitively expensive. I think there may be a few gold ones, too.
