1854 one cent; what's it worth, or better, what should I pay?

Ladies and gents, I've recently become enamored of a girl I met on craigslist, but I'm not a copper guy, whaddyathink? I looked at my book and she seems to fall in the VF30+ range, a little wear on the hair and incomplete letters on Liberty... I can't tell if it's any sort of variety, because I'm totally unfamiliar. I looked on ebay and there are many ugly colored, cleaned coins, and this is not a rare date, but she's kind of a babe, non, eye-appeal wise? Got a nice reverse, too. What say the copper gents?

There's apparently a collection behind this one coin, left from father to son, so I've got a soft spot for the fella. Really wanted to offer to help him organize and sell right, out of the goodness of my heart... + dibs.

If I felt generous, I would give $30.00 for that cent.It does appear to be an honest, problem free and eye appealing piece.
