So I pulled this beauty out of the ground while metal detecting today and think it is the "huge O" variety. Friend at the coin shop isn't sure. Need the experts to tell me yes or no, should I send it in to get slabbed? Thanks in advance!
I rinsed it off but it was indeed in the ground, I'm betting for at least a century, maybe longer. Silver generally does very well underground.
The big o variety? Because the "expert" at the coin shop first said it wasn't and then said he wasn't sure. I looked at the pictures in the red book and it looks like it is indeed, the huge o variety. It's going to cost me $40.00 to send it in, about what it's worth if it isn't the huge o.
And....in VG it's a $1000.00 that's one I would gladly roll the dice.....as I see it the dice are loaded with a nice variety . The expert at the LCS was hoping on you being dumb enough to sell it at melt and him doing a happy dance. I guess he's sitting out all the dances tonight And your dance card should be full.....
I'm no expert, but comparing it to some online images, I'd say yes, it's a huge O. I can't speak to the authenticity of the coin, though.
Yes, you have the Huge O variety, and should definitely send it in. While it may not get a straight grade, it is still a valuable coin.
Thanks all. Oh boy, I'm not going to sleep well tonight! Bringing it back tomorrow and having them send it off, then I'll probably not sleep well till it gets back. Uggg.... (lol)
Do yourself a favor and send it in yourself. Don't let someone who told you it wasn't send it in for you
Down load the paperwork fill it out....as for variety list it on the form I believe it only $7 if you list it and $12 for them to. I'm sure that way you can get 5 coins graded and shipped under $100..... $82 to be exact. One other note depending if Anacs has any in their pops yours could end up top pop at Anacs lol
For PCGS and I believe ANACS as well I am pretty sure that the large O is an automatic one and doesn't need the variety fee though noting it is certainly the wise choice. NGC I am not sure of as they seem to be much more restrictive on the seated variety designations they will do
PCGS pop report. This list is 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 53, 55, 58. They have none graded higher than 58.
