XF BN. Too many dings in my opinion for AU.

Contact marks do not affect the grade of circulated coins. Only the amount of wear.

This is a borderline XF/AU based on the wear. This is also not worth submitting.

All that green is bad on the coin. I can't tell if its verdigris or PVC, but it shouldn't be there.

EF45. Not enough luster for AU according to the photo, though it may be better in hand. Contact marks definitely DO affect the grade of circulated coins. However, as the grade goes down, we allow more of them before net grading the coin. We don't allow much in the way of contact marks on an EF coin.

The green will probably come off with xylenes or acetone.

I'm at EF and would just leave the coin as it is. Maybe just acetone.

XF+...some of these were made of clay during this period.

Only if it’s something unusually strong for hits

Au 50. Try some acetone to stop any pvc if that’s the green I wouldn’t bother sending it in as it’s not a high value coin unless you or someone you knew had a fairly large (20+ coin) economy submission so it only cost you about $20

Unless you are a member of EAC and "net" grade as they do.

IMO, your coin should conserve very nicely. There is little original luster remaining yet it has the details of an AU. I'm going to agree with anyone posting 45 - 53 as it is all personal and depends  on how old you are. ;)

Boy, do I miss the emoji selection and using color laking on other forums! :D

Haha, fair enough. I'm not EAC grading though, that stuff is crazy.

Contact marks definitely affect the value, though.

sharpness of coin is AU in my opinion. If luster is gone though I can see XF45

No. He was saying you don’t count hits to determine grades for circulated coins which is right. You’re judging wear and hits are basically just a question of details or not. No one is saying I would have graded this a 12 but that hit makes it a 10.
