This coin could be an 1858. Compared to an 1856 the chip in the ball is facing outward which is unlike other 1856 dates.
skinny 8 vs shape of a 6 but much like a 6 on an 1856 copy flying eagle and the ball could just be destroyed and what looks like a chip is damage. I still Love this specimen because its rare to find any indian head cent in change especially two in one roll. The reason I am hoping this indian head is an 1850's specimen is because the oldest indian head found by me and dad is an 1866 green patina indian head cent. If this is 1850's I found an older one then Dad found LOL!
clearly not 4.66 grams (72 grains). It is made of 88% copper and 12% nickel, and has a diameter of 19 millimeters. The 3 gram planchets are common in wheat cents and lincoln memorials I have a bag of them like 2.9-3g off weight. I would like to roll them by weight and date then case them all some day for a reference to explain my 1982 small date cents that are not all 3.1g but 2.89-3.1g weight with many examples in the 2.9 range. My guess this must be another copy coin just damaged from change which is cool for my Fantastic Fakes Collection. I just wish the coin was prettier. If anybody knows where I can get a better copy let me know please.
So I got an image from a higher resolution coin camera and number man it’s clearly not an 1856 Indian head cent replica. Here is the image it appears to be a plain old 1866 Indian head cent sorry folks; I was hoping for a fantasy penny prototype!
