Found the coin in the pic in a flip among some stuff an uncle gave me. My 12 year old son started collecting coins so I pulled it out.

I started, lurking here when he got interested in coins to see if I can learn something.

Any idea of value of the coin?

    I really appreciate the help.

It is hard for me to judge by pictures, but IMO it looks to be between a fine and EF with the strong stamping on the reverse. Guess would be about $ 50.00.

Not bad for a coin found in an old box of junk....thanks!

Nice find . Could you get a petter pic ? It could be worth a lot more .

I'd grade it Fine, dunno if the rim bumps are enough to details it.

From the pics given I'd grade it at least a VF but can't give you a # without better pics . I also can't tell if the rims are damaged like Omegaraptor said .

I'm going to take it to work tomorrow, we have some excellent high end cameras. I will hopefully get much better pics.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I am amazed by how helpful people are here. On some forums a newbee like me gets snippy, snide comments
    ,not help.

    Thank you,

That coin, on remaining meat alone, is noticeably better than straight fine (mid VF range). Particularly when someone not familiar with coins comes here seeking advice, we need to make an effort not to mislead them, even if unintentionally.

The reverse issues are enough to genny it though, so good job there.

Here is another stab at the pics...we're struggling to get decent lighting.

I really like the strength of the rev. Your 12 year old should love it!
It would keep in my collection.
I am just going thru my first collection of coins,
They have been moved 1200 miles and then back again.

Hopefully, I can get better pics of this coin and a 1901-O Barber dime we have. If that happens, I will repost here and start a thread for the Barber.

I don't see us parting with this coin anytime soon. My hope is that my grandson owns it someday!
