1848 Quarter

    Dear friends, here is another seated quarter I would like your opinions on.
    (have posted this one before, these are better pictures).

    The coin has nice luster - I was not able to capture this in pictures.

    Nice Seated quarter. Original surfaces? AU53/55? It appears to be the 1848/1848 overdate :-D

    It is either an AU-58 or an unc.

    Hard to tell, without seeing the luster.

    AU-55 to 58

    A number of these pre-1853 dates are better because quite a few coins were melted or exported because of the change in the ratio of prices between gold and silver, due to the California gold rush.
