    Hello,

I acquired this 1839 Great Britain 6 Pence with a counterstamp which I cannot identify. Has anyone come image.jpg across the counterstamp before? It partially covers the Six Pence written on coin and appears as a half 8 spoked wheel. I would appreciate any input.

I too don't recognize the cm. However, Gregory Brunk's World Countermarks on Medieval and Modern Coins lists a cm by the
German town of Erfurt "used tow types of countermarks: (1) a half wheel, and (2) two half wheels joined at the uncut edges."

That's about all I can contribute along with a half hour of "Googling."
    Good hunting.

It's a Ceylon Buddhist Wheel counterstamp but the right half of the wheel did not fully strike out.
