Im trying to make some posts about some of the nicer medals in the collection. </p><p><br /></p><p>This is a bronze 1839 Adam Eckfeldt US Mint retirement medal. 1 medal was struck in gold and 2 in silver for the Eckfeldt family. There were an unknown number of bronze pieces struck for dignitaries. It also appears that the mint kept these dies and a few pieces were restruck from the original dies.
