I have a few capped bust 1/2 dimes and trying to hone my grading and attribution skills.
    I believe this is a 1837 large date LM1 very fine 25 1837over7FINAL.jpg 1837revfinal.jpg .

    Thanks for your help.

Surfaces appear grainy, pitted or porous. Was this coin a metal detecting find? Almost has a cast look about it too. I'm no expert and could be wrong. I am interested in what others think.

It is indeed LM-1 (the die crack at 11:30 on the obverse is diagnostic) and your grade guess is within reason although I would probably call it a 20.

Nice vf. H-10 in fact the last date needed here for my 1829-1837 year set. The surfaces do look pitted though.... may be just the image. I must warn you half dimes are addictive ! If you don't know of this Web site I highly recommend www.everythinghalfdime.com complete list of die marriages as well R values. The images on this site are unreal!

Heck of a set of die clashes as well.
