I have lower end and details coined slabbed if I'm curious about them - the only TPG I've used is ICG, I'm a collector in search of knowledge, not a dealer or worried about selling, so I'd say the decision on whether to slab and by whom depends on why you would want to do it. ICG is affordable and tough but fair in my experience, they offer a Cointalk member discount of $10 per coin (plus shipping both ways and insurance) so it's more cost effective with 10 or 20 coins. For example, in my latest submission, in addition to SLQs (me and my son collect those), among other whimsical pieces I submitted a 1946 copper 1 Franc, Belgian Congo, because I like the elephant - it came back AU58 Details, KM#26, I paid $5 for it, and another was a 1964 25 Schilling, Silver, that came back PR65, Cameo, KM#2895.2,Obv.Error for which I paid $12.50,If you are curious about resale value of course you're best off going with PCGS but that's pricey and you have to join the organization. Thank you for sharing, in any case. Here are pics of those 2 coins before they were sent in - 1francbc.jpg 1frncbcrev.jpg 25schil.jpg 25schilrev.jpg

Save your money and keep it raw. I've seen MS65 Lincoln Wheats stabbed by PCGS. What was the owner thinking?
