The price difference is $3000 vs $850 in PCGS retail, but I can't figure it out! @okbustchaser , @Treashunt
It is the 106. I corrected my typo after you replied. On the 106 S1 points to lower half; on 107 it is between.
Lower half of the denticle. From Dave Rutherford's prices realized site it looks like the last P-55 to sell at auction went for $1880 last August.
I bought a little group in a book. I had no clue, even after submitting it, that it was this valuable. I feel a little stupid... given that I love bust halves so much. I learnt sumpin new tonight.
They are by far my favorite US type, particularly in EF and above. So much variety, affordable, and common with good surfaces and high grades (relative to early large cents, which I am also rather partial to).
I knew that the curl base 2 with knob was a tough one. And I knew of the 107a with the die crack thru the date.... much more rare than the book and price guides say. But I didn't know about the 106 high R.4 until tonight.
