A copy of the Red Book (Officail title is "A Guide Book of United States Coins") will give you a rough estimate of coin values (it is printed 18 months in advance, so be aware that the values can be rather inaccurate). If you really want to see a dealer then you could pay for an insurance appraisal from a dealer and in that you would receive his grades or you could ask for the dealer to make you an offer for the coins and have him let you know which coins are the most valuable individually.
