1822 Capped Bust question

What led me to my conclusion of displaced metal was damage at the top of the two. In this new set of pics, the second photo def. shows damage in this area. I'm not sure what to think really. Is it possible there was an obstruction that caused this anomaly during the striking? Something like a broken away piece of the die?
