Here’s another from my handful of busties.

What do you think it would grade?

Is it worth sending to be graded?

Thanks for your comments and grade.

Nice coin. I'll guess AU-50 or AU-53 if the luster is there. It's tough to tell from the image. I'll also guess the coin has some nice color we can't see in the image. If it has nice luster, I would have it graded.

    Low AU grade I think.

I always think these coins have been cleaned. Not by you and not recently.
IDK if they take that into consideration when grading since 90% of these coins were routinely cleaned before they knew it was bad for them. And I don't mean harshly cleaned and scrubbed. Just washed and rubbed to get the coin dirt off. And to present the coins with a "nicer" appearance. Definitely some wear on the eagle, the head and the tops of the wings. (The high points.) On the obverse some wear on the cheek, hat and hair. Agree with both posters AU 50.

P.S. also some wear on the bust and forehead. As for grading, there are 3 varieties of this coin, and since we don't see the edge we don't know which variety it is. There is the "normal" variety, then there is one where there is XXXX between the words on the edge and the other is IIII between the words on the edge. The XXXX var is more valuable. In AU 50 the normal edge is around $1000 while the XXXX is around $2300 and the IIII is around $1350. So it is important to see the edge lettering on this coin.

I think that the photos are way over exposed. For that reason, I won't say "cleaned." The sharpness grade is lower end AU.

It was the whiteness of the images and the area around the stars (look at the bottom 4 stars on the left) that led me to believe it had been lightly cleaned years ago.

    Great discussion and grading.
I'll check the edge out, something I wasn't aware of.
    Many Thanks!

The edge varieties are for 1809, not 1819. Looks AU-50 to me.
