1817 Large cent

  1. By far the oldest U.S. coin I ever found,I think its the 15 star variety.

    found? You mean metal detecting or found at a Flea mkt? I love those old cents. Nice find no matter HOW you found it.

    These coins are quite available in Mint State, because of a hoard. That lowers the price for the lower grades.

    Here's an example of a Mint State 1817 large cent from the Randel Hoard. These coins aren't cheap, a couple thousand dollars, but other later dates are rarer in Mint State and much more expensive.
