Here are two piece for my "one cent per date set." The 1804 is a classic rarity. It's more common than the 1799, but as a date it's the second scarcest. It is graded EF, which is tad generous IMO, but the color is above average. The other cent is an 1812 which is one of the two "common dates" among the Classic Head large cents. This one is grade AU-58. These coins are hard to find nice. Many of them have problems which result in "details" grades.
I'd say over 90% of the surviving LCs would earn detail grades, but that's the nature of copper both absolutely fantastic
Both of those cents are beautiful examples of their type, and in WAY better grade than both of mine. I'll share mine for comparison.
Nice coins, @johnmilton and @Eduard ! I can attest to that classic cent type being hard to find nice. That slot is empty in my registry type set and has been for a while. It’s on my LCS’s want list, and I’ve been scouring my usual internet haunts regularly. Even the straight graded ones that come up sometimes have issues that I don’t want.
I don't wanna hear it.. I would kill for either of your examples. (beautiful coins both of you) As you can see both of mine are considerably lower in grade/quality
