I wonder if this lovely coin is now worth $450 as a PCGS XF45 instead of $650 as a raw XF-AU? Did PCGS perhaps give a net grade where the coin was AU53/net XF45 for the scratches? Would enumerating the flaws overinflate their impact on the coins overall appearance? Is there room for individual taste variation in the impact of the 'flaws'? Say I were less concerned about an old retoned scratch than you. Does that represent added value to the seller or the buyer? This is where the science of grading and value break down and the art of negotiation begins.

I personally like the less than perfect coins. Why does this one have an especially wide inner rim on the left? Another prefers terminal die states with lots of CUD activity. The old timers might have written these off as an examples of poor strike and avoided them.

There is a nice appreciative home out there for this lovely lady. I hope it finds it's way there rather than to the home of an unhappy perfectionist.
