    Hello all,

I'm not a collector. I have this half cent that I found as a child, been carrying is around for a very long time. I'm trying to decide if its worth grading. Can anyone help with the probable grade of this? Also, what Cohen?

    Thanks!

far easier when you don't have to stand on your side or on your head to see the pictures.

Also struck slightly off center and something going on at the dash between 1/100. Possibly a die crack or variety?

Not to start a war but a member of another site forum has it as a vf25. I've got a buyer as is (ungraded) and I'm wondering if it's worth the a cost of grading - increase the value, minus grading cost. Are you pretty confident of the EF-40? Does the corrosion cause much down grading? Thanks.

Thanks for the rotation of the pic! Both pics were oriented correctly but uploaded this way...

My opinion is it's a vf-25-30 coin with better then most surfaces to much wear for an EF coin.
Many if not most of these early coppers are heavely corroded due to horrible planchets before striking and 200 year old copper without major issues are tough to find.

OK, cool. Any estimate on the value as a vf-25-30 if I do get it graded?

That is why I edited it, easier to view for the OP. I'm working on the back

I don't think this coin will straight grade.
A vf coin lists for $230.
    an ef list for $700.
meaning PCGS,NGC,Anacs would most likely grade this coin as a vf details enviromental damage coin due to the corrosion and most collectors shy away from details slabbed coins because they are coins with issues.
Now this coin though not perfect is a nice coin for what it is.
I don't believe there is much upside to having it graded unless of coarse they were to give it an ef details coin then you may be able to squeze a little more $$ out of it.
I see this coin selling in the $200ish give or take range.

And sorry no idea on the cohen #.

There is a huge amount of people who will buy pitted large cents from that time, obviously not for full value but still there is a market. People who can not afford a problem free coin but want to have a coin with nice details may buy one.
