I didn't scroll down far enough. :headbang: I'm used to the contact info being at the the top of the page and didn't scroll down far enough to see the phone numbers at the bottom of the page. Thankies! :thumb: Ribbit
I called and the receptionist could not explain why no one had replied to either my emails or my posts on the forum site. She said she would forward my questions from the forum, to whoever could answer my questions and I should expect a answer shortly. Considering how long my questions have sat unanswered, "shortly" could mean sometime this century but if I don't have an answer by tomorrow mid-afternoon, I'll call them again. I don't like to be a pest but I may have to be a pest to get an answer. Ribbit Ps: My question to PMG concerned authenticating/grading and encasing vintage state bonds.
The person who answered the phone more than likley never gets on the forums, nor does she know who does. Why didn't you just ask her the question and not put it off more and more???? Speedy
The "person" who answered the phone pulled up my questions on the forum and READ my questions. So, why do you think I should verbalize something someone has just read and has said she would pass it on to the person(s) who can answer my question(s), if she can answer them for me in the first place? :goof: Ribbit
Well, in the post I replyed to, there was nothing said by you that told me that she read it, nor that you couldn't answer it. When it is all said and done---I don't really think it matters what NCS says....they aren't going to be able to tell alot from looking at photos, and so far I haven't seen anything that points to the coin or slab being fake. Speedy
Since I am extremely busy and didn't have time to completely cover the call verbatim, I made it brief and covered what was necessary. If anyone thinks they can do better, why haven't they contacted NCS and gotten an answer from them and posted it already? Since there are so many who would love to prove me wrong, I find it interesting they only point the finger but won't use that very same finger to prove me wrong by contacting NCS themselves. But maybe someone has and they haven't received a reply either? I apologize for taking so long in getting a reply out of someone else, but I have other things in my life (to include my 24/7/52 job) that take precedence over this. Ribbit Ps: It's my understanding that NCS takes before & after photos of coins sent in for "conservation" so all they have to do, to confirm the coin in the slab is the coin they conserved, is to compare their photo on file to the coin in the slab. That shouldn't be hard for them to do!
I cruise most Ebays (I can't read the weird asian language ones). Better deals can be had sometimes. Ribbit
That is so funny.... I have this crazy visual seeing you look at these foriegn websites saying, "what the heck are the saying, I don't know, but that is one heck of a deal!" ROTFLOL! :mouth: Stay cool man! :hail:
I hopped into a few of the Asian Ebays and stared at the weird writing and back-buttoned my way out. As to the languages that use A-Z, I can surf around in them pretty well but have to use a internet translator to make sure I don't miss something. I bid on one coin once, without using a translator, and someone pointed out to me that it was a miniature copy of the real thing (was in the description but I missed it cause they used a different word for "copy" than I was used to). Only cost me 5 bucks, but that taught me to be more careful. The other day I watched a XF-40 1928-P Peace Dollar sell for around $150.00 in a foreign Ebay, all because they didn't list it properly. Ribbit Ps: I picked up a really nice red uncirculated 1909-S Lincoln Cent for 14 bucks out of Germany, and that included shipping. Now I can't wait for it to arrive to see if there's a VDB on the reverse (pic wasn't good enough to tell).
HT - that is funny. Hope it all works out and you find that big VDB! I have to admit that a few years back I bought something off a German website. I was on a forum for a vehicle that I owned and I had someone translate the website for me that was from Canada! It ended up working out ok and I got the part just fine, but shipping was as expensive as the part itself. I have not ordered anything overseas since then.
*points finger at Toad* dd: If you have time to post here, you have time to harass NCS. :loud: :goofer:
I did harass them today and I'll harass them again tomorrow, if they don't post the answers on their forum or reply to my email. It's going to be raining here tomorrow so I should have lots of time on my hands to bother them. It's been almost two weeks since my first email to them and them not answering it by now, I don't think that shows very much professionalism on their part (not that I have any room to speak). But one thing you should remember, it's close to midnight there and unless they run 24/7/52, I can't harass them at this time and during the day I have my work to contend with. Ribbit
I ran into the same problem when I bought a few bottles of 40 year old French wine. The wine cost me 1 Euro a bottle but the shipping averaged out to 10 Euros per bottle. It was still a great deal but would have been better with lower shipping costs. From now on, I'll be very careful buying anything that weighs a lot and is coming from overseas. Ribbit
And if you have time searching foreign eBays, then you have time to pester the living daylights out of NCS and get an answer!
I see nothing on their site that state that they take photos of the coins....before and after. http://www.ncscoin.com/conservation/process.asp Speedy
