Sorry for not great pictures but have not fished it out and gotten solid pictures outside its plastic. It has been in this 2x2 holder for many, many years. Predates when I got it.

Love any insight on condition, eye appeal, and value.

Or just enjoy it and feel free to share your nicest 1796 Sheldon!

1st thing is get it out of the rusty staple 2 X 2. Thanks for showing the 18th century coin!

It is a bit difficult to fully appreciate the coin and it's surfaces through the plastic, but from what I can see you have a pretty nice VG10 obverse, with a VG8 or so reverse and overall a nice appearance.

However, as you know, for a more detailed evaluation surface quality is key, and the reverse does seem a bit rough and pitted. You can tell better since you have it in-hand.
S-114 is rated R-5- per CQR. Assuming an approximate grade between GD5 and VG8, the approximate value would be anywhere from $500-900. As I said, surface condition is very important.

I have a number of 1796 DBC's. I will look for my pictures and post some.
