Trying to find out more information on a coin my late father had in his collection of coins. This unit he said is a one of one coin. We are currently going through the estate of his and this coin is in a bank safe. Are next steep is to get it graded. I know that the S-79 is very rare but have not found any information on a S-77 coin.
You're not going to get many folks to download a PDF to look at your pictures, I'm afraid (though if anyone wants to look, the link is safe- I tried it).
Here. Cropped screenshots from my small laptop. If anyone needs to see the full-sized images, just go to his PDF file. Nice coin.
I'm in love again!!! (Congratulations Phillip R on an amazing coin, I wish I had any information other than I'm drooling on my keyboard at the picture)
Your dad was Richard Runion, EAC 5144. He showed his coin to other EAC'ers at the July 2006 Baltimore show and that meeting was written up in the September 2006 Penny-Wise (pages 213-214) with mention and picture of your dad's coin. I would like to dialogue with you and make some suggestions. Please contact me by [private message]. Edited to redact email address per forum rules. ~Mod.
Wow, an EAC specialist. Those folks are the early copper gurus, for sure! No wonder this is such a nice coin. @John Wright - email addresses on the public forums are not compliant with forum rules, so do please send him a private message, in case he's not yet sure how to do that. Thanks for offering to help. (You may of course give him your email or other contact information in the private message.)
He left you in charge keep the fever going. You are very fortunate to have such a great head start, good luck. Be safe
OK moderator, please *YOU* contact Philip and give him my contact. I can help him more than anybody else on this forum -- and I will be happy to keep you in the loop.
No, Philip, I did not know your dad personally. But I was Treasurer of EAC for 37 years and knew him by name. If the Moderator will give you my (redacted) email address, we can dialogue privately.
