1795 Flowing Hair dollar Will it straight grade?

    I would think so, but you can never tell what mood the graders are in. Is it totally original and has never been touched with baking soda or something like that? Probably not, but it does not have any big marks, and it has never been smoothed to remove them.

    In the old days, they used to give the early coins some breaks. Now I don't know because I don't play that game any more.

    Looks like it's been 'smoothed' at one time or another. Just a guess but there's something about it. Good luck with it.

    It looks like it was possibly cleaned long ago. If it was a mid 19th century coin it would probably get a details grade, but they tend to be a lot more "forgiving" with the early material so I would say that if it looks in hand as it does on my screen (which is always questionable) then it has a good chance at straight grading

    I would say, imo, you are at about a fine 12...very nice coin....early americana well suited for today!

    Don't "pocket pieces" or "sliders" also have a similar "smoothed" look about them? As far as I know those straight grade for the most part.
