I'm so bummed I missed that show, was really hoping to go this year or next year.... then they have to do it in California (Lives in Wisconsin)
It was so cool , they had the MS65 1794 with a few MS-66+ 1795 which had the coolest toning that they thought would go for 1 mill and right next to that a bunch of 1700 gold small eagle and Heraldic eagle coins . Everyone was worth more than my house .
That image really does the coin no justice, it is by far the strongest cartwheel that I've seen on an eighteenth century coin. The patina looks very subtle and natural in hand. It's easy to understand why this coin was a prize and was protected for over two hundred years. There are only four US coins which I would consider more significant than this piece.
The 1794 SP-66, the SP-66 half disme, the SP-65 chain cent and the center counter stamped brasher. A couple of others have an argument as well.
Except they missed the adjustment marks on the obv through the stars at 10:00. The marks have been pretty much crushed in the field but are still visible as lines, and the marks can still be seen through the relief on the stars where they weren't fully struck up.
