I recall the mint changed their manufacturing style to avoid minting the full authorized amount (75k in this case), only to melt a bunch of them if they didn't sell. I expect we'll see the remaining 25k go on sale before the end of the year*. Question - did they mint all the privy marks in the first 50k or hold back a few of them for the next run? *Disclaimer: As a random guy on the internet, I may have no idea what I'm talking about and turn out to be completely wrong.
Well PCGS held my coin for hostage for 2 extra months. Apparently I owed them $27 but they forgot to tell me.... Still worth the wait, but it adds to my list of grievances with PCGS. This is my MS70 medal. There are many like it, but this one is mine:
I checked into the mintage figures for this issue. It turns out the "product limit" of 50,000 was the final number. Can anyone explain where the extra 25k in the "mintage limit" of 75,000 went? AFAIK the medal was not offered in any other set.
